A shooting was confirmed on Tuesday morning local time near the University of South Carolina’s Upstate campus in the United States.

The satellite school, located outside Spartanburg, was placed on lockdown at 12:41 EST in response to a shooting at the Campus Edge Apartments, but police issued an all-clear shortly before 2 pm.

One person was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, school spokeswoman Tammy Whaley said. Reports indicate the individual was shot in the arm.

Local police are in search of the gunman, according to reports.

The shooter suspect was carrying a “semi-automatic weapon”, wearing khaki pants and a grey hoodie, according to a university tweet.

A shooting was confirmed at the Campus Edge Apartments with the suspect heading on foot toward central campus earlier on Tuesday.

An initial tweet from the “USC Upstate” Twitter said “possible shots” were fired and later confirmed the shooting.
