United States President Donald Trump addressed the South Korean parliament in Seoul on Wednesday morning local time.

Mr Trump spoke to the Republic of Korea’s National Assembly going through the history of Korea’s relationship with the US and the conflict on the Korean peninsula.

The US president issued a strong warning for the North, saying “do not underestimate us, do not try us” to the applause of Korean lawmakers.

Addressing Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jung Un, Trump said “the weapons you are acquiring are not making you safer, they are putting your regime in grave danger.

The president delved into the history of the two countries, who are still technically at war after an armistice treaty over 50 years ago.

He said that at one point both Korea’s were at the same place financially, but that the southern Korea had risen to become of the world’s economic powerhouses.

Trump kicked off an Asian tour in Japan earlier this week and is in South Korea for two days. The Republican also noted that it has been a year since the US presidential election he won in 2016.
