Light Rail Transit is coming to the Humber College North and University of Guelph-Humber Campus with the expected completion year being 2022.

Formally known as the Finch West LRT, the 11 km light rail line has been in the works since the “Transit City” plan was announced by the Toronto Transit Commission on Mar 16, 2007.

In May of this year, Metrolinx confirmed that “it had entered into an agreement with Alstom to build 17 light rail vehicles for the Finch West LRT project” with construction scheduled to start in 2018, according to the LRT information webpage.

The line starts in the west at Humber College, with a partial underground section, then heads north to follow Finch Ave W to just east of Keele where it will connect with the Young-University Line One subway.

For access to downtown, it is a bus ride on 191 Kipling Express to reach the Kipling subway, but it is not clear whether this will be a faster way to reach the Toronto core from Humber North/Guelph-Humber.

More details to follow. Image 1 of the proposed map from Metrolinx.
