IGNITE Student Life hosted social activists actress Sophia Bush and Aerie model Iskra Lawrence for another installment of its Real Talks series for International Women’s Day on Thursday.

IGNITE President Maja Jocson said she is proud to lead the University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College student bodies as a female, pointing out that the next president will also be female.

“It’s so important for us to celebrate this event,” Jocson told hundreds packed into the free event.

She said that the elections show great women empowerment on campus with all the female candidates running, to roaring applause.

Lawerence, international model and body positive Aerie ambassador spoke on positivity and ambition.

“You forget sometimes there’s 24 hours for you to achieve something,” the British-accented Lawrence said.

“International Women’s Day is the commitment to celebrating you and putting yourself first, and by doing that you’re going to give off positive energy and hopefully inspire and give positivity to all the other women in your life too.”
