The annual day-long Emerge Conference kicked off at 8:30 a.m. at the Assembly Hall on the Humber College Lakeshore Campus.

Graduating Media Studies students at the University of Guelph-Humber put together the conference, as well as a print and digital magazine and corresponding media competition, every year, all with the same name of Emerge.

High-profile speakers, panel discussions and workshops make up the conference, brining together media professionals and media students into the same building.

Those that wish to submit questions can do so using the tag “#Emerge2018” at Slido.

The Emerge Conference theme for 2018 is “Success: Your Terms, Your Path”.

The Emerge Media Awards, not related directly to the conference, is taking place Thursday evening and will be covered by on-scene Post reporters.

It will feature submissions by Guelph-Humber, Mount Royal University, Humber College, University of British Columbia, and the University of Toronto.
