Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti slammed Michael Cohen, the personal attorney for United States President Donald Trump, after Mr. Cohen’s court hearing on Monday.
“I said last Friday and this weekend that Michael Cohen is radioactive and that anybody that was associated with him in the last 20 to 30 years should be very, very concerned,” told reporters outside the courthouse in New York.
“What we witnessed earlier in the hearing, with the disclosure relating to Sean Hannity proved my point exactly. He is radioactive.”
Mr. Avenatti went on to say that “anyone who has had any contact” with Cohen in the last 20 years “should be very concerned about what secrets of theirs are within these documents.”
He spoke after Stormy, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, who vowed to reporters that she will not rest until the facts were found.
Clifford said that Cohen “has never thought that the little man, or especially women… matter. That ends now.”
Cohen paid Clifford $130,000 just before the 2016 U.S. presidential election to sat quiet over an alleged affair with Mr. Trump in 2006.
Avenatti also said he believed Sean Hannity “got thrown under bus” by Cohen’s legal team.
The New York Times recently reported that Trump’s lawyers find the Cohen probe more dangerous than the investigation into potiential collusion between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia.
Fox News host Sean Hannity was revealed as Michael Cohen’s third client after a U.S. judge ordered his name released on Monday.
Mr. Hannity was quick to deny that he ever retained the personal attorney of U.S. President Donald Trump.
“Michael Cohen has never represented me in any matter. I never retained him, received an invoice, or paid legal fees,” Mr. Hannity said in a statement.
“I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective. I assumed those conversations were confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involved any matter between me and a third-party.”
Mr. Cohen is the personal lawyer for Trump, and had previusly argued that the revelation of his third client would be embarrassing.
Cohen’s known two clients over the past year are President Donald Trump and GOP financier Elliot Broidy.
Mr. Broidy resigned after it was revealed Cohen allegedly paid $1.6 million to a Playboy Playmate in hush money for the top Republican fundraiser and friend of the U.S. president.
It is not known yet what Cohen did for Hannity beyond what the Fox News host said in comments to reporters.
