A suicide bomb attack at an Afghan voter registration centre killed 57 in the capital Kabul on Sunday, according to authorities.

The explosion struck a line up of people outside the centre resulting in the deaths of five children and 21 women as well as injuring 119.

So-called Islamic State said it had carried out the attack.

Voter registration began this month for legislative elections which are due to take place in October.
