According to the BBC, Facebook has confirmed that Alek Minassian made a post on their platform possibly revealing his motive for the van attack in Toronto on Monday.

The post reads: “Private (Recruit) Minassian Infantry 00010, wishing to speak to Sgt 4chan please. C23249161. The Incel Rebellion has already begun! We will overthrow all the Chads and Stacys! All hail the Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger!”

“Incel” is an internet term for an adult who feels unable to enter into a sexual relationship. The term originates from a community of “incels” on the online message board, 4Chan.

“Chads” and “Stacys” are what the “involuntary celibate” call men and women able to have sex.

Some believe the post may reveal Minassian’s motive for the attack due to Reddit banning their Incel community in November for hosting “violent content.”

In the post, Minassian refers to an “Incel Rebellion” that has “already begun.” Perhaps Monday’s attack was part of that rebellion.

Police have still not confirmed Minassian’s motive but continue investigating.
