The post-legalization cannabis smoking policy for the University of Guelph-Humber will be determined by Humber College, the acting secretariat of Guelph’s Senate told The Avro Post.
Acting Senate executive Brenda Whiteside said in an email that the University of Guelph’s move towards a smoke-Free campus “is going through a significant consultation process including a number of focus groups and an open design consultation process in the student building.”
Ms. Whiteside also confirmed that student leaders at Guelph have been working on the campus cannabis policy since January, however, their work will not affect Guelph-Humber.
It is unclear how Humber College will carry out their cannabis rules, but, according to federal law, citizens can only smoke on private property anyways.
Whiteside said that students will still be allowed to carry cannabis on campus. Humber has not made it clear whether it’s students will be able to do the same.
Humber College, IGNITE and the University is Guelph-Humber have not responded to comment.
