Social media app Instagram stopped working for many users worldwide early on Wednesday morning, before being fixed a few minutes later.

Several reports rushed in from around the global, and The Avro Post found that Instagram in southern Ontario did not appear to be working for about 20 minutes around 4 a.m. ET.

When in the app, a “couldn’t refresh feed” message was displayed across the top, similar to the notice given when the service is unable to get online.

Instagram has over 1 billion users.

There has yet to be a statement from either Instagram, or its owner, Facebook.

The issues come during a turbulent time for Instagram. Just recently, its duel co-founders left the company.
