Toronto FC defeated Atlanta United 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at BMO Field to end off their season.
Lucas Janson scored a brace which puts TFC management on notice, as Janson was signed on a loan deal in the summer. Toronto should look to sign Janson on a permanent deal as striker Jozy Altidore may be on his way out during the offseason.
The Reds denied Atlanta of the Supporters Shield, and highest amount of points in a season record. The New York Red Bulls claimed both of those as they defeated Orlando City, ending their regular season on 72 points.
Sebastian Giovinco added another goal to his tally, ending with 13 on the season to go along with 15 assists.
Overall, Toronto FC’s season was underwhelming compared to last year to say the least. They accumulated only 36 points this year, just over half of 69 which was how many they had last year, a year when they won MLS Cup for the first time.
TFC now has a lengthy offseason for the first time since 2015, but will return in February when they participate in the 2019 Concacaf Champions league.
