The University of Guelph-Humber will compensate several students to be present at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair on Friday to “interact” with Ontario Premier Doug Ford as part of his tour of Guelph University’s exhibit, sources told The Avro Post on Thursday.

In email sent out by the head of Student Services Leah Murdock to other departments at the university, the school needs three to four current students wearing Guelph-Humber attire “present at the fair to interact with the Premier, given that his riding is North Etobicoke”.

Guelph-Humber is located on the Humber College North Campus, well within Ford’s riding.

“We will provide reimbursements for transportation and a $25 Cineplex gift card for participating,” Murdock wrote in the email, saying that interested students will be emailed later on Thursday with “all of the necessary details and logistics”.

“Someone will be there to meet them and provide them with some direction in advance.”

The email had the subject line: “Urgent Request: Potential Premier Visit to the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Tomorrow”.

The Avro Post has reached out for comment from the Guelph-Humber and Guelph administrations.

More details to follow.
