Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed Canadian Indigenious leaders in Ottawa on Tuesday, and took questions from chiefs that circled around the contentious Trans Mountain pipeline, democracy and nation-to-nation relations.

Just before Mr. Trudeau addressed the Special Chiefs Assembly, Aboriginal leaders passed a resolution in support of Indigenous child welfare legislation the Liberal Party government will table come January.

Trudeau added that an Indigenous languages act will also be brought to the House of Commons in 2019, a year marked by the United Nations as the Year of Indigenous Languages.

The Avro Post has reached out for comment from the Aboriginal Resource Centre on the Humber College North Campus, but the office was closed by the time the call went out.
