The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Toronto Raptors on Friday night 106-105, snapping an eight-game losing streak.
Brooklyn’s last win came on November 20 against the Miami Heat.
D’Angelo Russell scored 29, Spencer Dinwiddie scored 17 off the bench and provided eight assists, Jarret Allen had a double-double as he scored 12 points and collected 10 rebounds. Former Raptor DeMarre Carroll scored 10 points off the bench, including two three-pointers.
Kawhi Leonard did most of the heavy lifting by scoring 32 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Jonas Valanciunas had a rare start, scoring 24 points and also grabbing eight rebounds. Pascal Siakam scored 16 points.
Both teams got off to a slow start, the score after the first quarter was 24-20 in favour of the Nets. The Raptors were down 13 points in the second quarter but came back in the second half.
Kawhi Leonard did everything he could, but it was not enough on the night.
The Raptors will host the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday evening at Scotiabank Arena. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
