Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry played together for the first time on Tuesday night since December 9, as the Toronto Raptors defeated the Atlanta Hawks 104-101.
Turnovers were aplenty on both sides, Toronto gave the ball away 18 times, and Atlanta 26. Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry had a combined total of 10 steals.
Kawhi Leonard scored 31 points, and recorded six assists. Kyle Lowry had 16 points, and also had six assists. OG Anunoby scored 14 off the bench, Serge Ibaka scored 13. Pascal Siakam recorded his 8th double-double of the season, as he scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
John Collins recorded his 15th double-double of the season, he scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Jeremy Lin scored 20 points and dished nine assists, and rookie Trae Young scored 19 points.
Vince Carter returned to the city from which he was drafted, and was given a standing ovation when he entered the game.
Carter’s mother was also in attendance. Carter finished with six points, including a three-pointer.
Lowry and Leonard may not be vocal with each other on the court, but know where to find each other at all times.
The Hawks stuck around until the end, but the Raptors’ chemistry prevailed to give them the win.
Most fans have forgiven Vince Carter for leaving, as time heals all wounds. It is still uncertain whether Carter will play another season, and if he ends his career in Toronto.
The Raptors next game is on Friday when they play the Brooklyn Nets at Scotiabank Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
