There will be seven candidates running for the four seats the University of Guelph-Humber has on the main Guelph campus Senate, The Avro Post learned late on Saturday from a source speaking on the condition of anonymity.

This is an increase from the just three candidates that ran last year, which triggered a by-election for the empty seat in the fall. All candidates will be known as of Monday, when voting starts via GryphMail.

At this point, known candidates include Danya Elsayed, Nora Elgharbawy, Genevieve Samlal and the recently declared Jessica Lecques. The Avro Post is aware of a fifth candidate that has not yet publicly declared.

All known candidates have been sent interview questions from The Avro Post that they have the option to reply to — most likely by Monday morning.

The Avro Post is looking to hold a Town Hall but the likelihood of such an event is low because of the tight time frame between declared candidates and the voting period.
