Riverdale‘s favourite dad and Beverly Hills, 90210 star Luke Perry died after having a stroke, his publicist confirmed to The Associated Press on Monday.

Perry, 52, was hospitalized after emergency services rushed to his home in Los Angeles in response to a 911 call.

Perry moved to California’s Los Angeles to pursue acting after graduating high school, earning various gigs in commercials and music videos, with his first more substantial roles being in soap operas Loving and Another World, Comicbook.com reports.

His breakout role came in 1990 with Beverly Hills, 90210, in which he played Dylan McKay. Following that, Perry starred in a variety of films, such as 8 Seconds and Normal Life.

The actor also starred in TV projects like Jeremiahand John From Cincinnati. One of Perry’s more acclaimed performances came in HBO’s Oz, where he played the disturbed preacher Jeremiah Cloutier.
