A matchup between two offensive teams ended with the Seattle Sounders defeating Toronto FC 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at CenturyLink Field.
Goalkeeper Quentin Westberg made his TFC debut, replacing Alex Bono who had played all prior games this season.
The Reds drew first blood in the 11th minute when Alejandro Pozuelo sent a cross into Jozy Altidore who headed home past former TFC keeper Stefan Frei. The play started in the middle of the park when Pozuelo sent a pass to Justin Morrow who sent it back to Pozuelo, as he then created space for himself before setting up Altidore for his 5th goal of the season.
The Sounders made it 1-1 in the 24th minute when Will Bruin responded with a header of his own. Brad Smith received a pass from Christian Roldan and quickly sent in a ball to Bruin who headed it home.
Seattle took a 2-1 lead in the 66th minute from another Bruin goal. Some nice interplay between a few Sounders players led to Smith connecting with Bruin again.
The game was put out of Toronto’s reach just a couple minutes later by Roldan. Multiple TFC players stood and watched Kelvin Leerdam send a pass through to Roldan who shot it high over Westberg and in.
The Reds come back home to BMO Field on Friday night to play Minnesota United at 8 p.m.
