Guelph-Humber announces extension to course drop rule

Now students will have until the final day.

In a change to tradition, the University of Guelph-Humber will now allow students until the final day of classes in a semester to drop courses without academic penalty, Student Life said on Tuesday.

In a post to the Guelph-Humber current students account on Instagram, the Student Life team announced the change. In previous years, students would only have the first 40 days of a semester to drop a course without penalty.

This type of decision could have been made by the administration or the University of Guelph Senate. Because the Guelph campus dictates the academic policy for Guelph-Humber, it is likely to have originated there.

The Avro Post has reached out for comment from the Guelph Senate and the Guelph-Humber administration, as well as the four senators that represent the Rexdale campus in the Senate. ■
