The money comes from a related fee.

IGNITE is scheduled to open up financial aid support on Monday and have $175,000 to work with for students at the University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College, an apparent increase from the $50,000 set aside the previous year.

Students are able to apply via the MyHumber Student Awards and Financial Aid tab or, for Guelph-Humber students, by filling out a form at the Financial Aid office on the first floor.

The fund utilizes money from the $10.45 Student Financial Support Fee, one of the optional Enhanced Student Experience Fees. Humber’s president told the Humber Et Cetera in September that about 80 per cent of students remained opted in.

Many ancillary fees are now optional after the provincial government legislated the Student Choice Initiative in January.
