The Avro Post is dedicated to producing stories that are unbiased and accurate for students at the University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College, reporting news for the public interest.
The Post is open for any member to join as an official IGNITE Student Life Club and does not discriminate based on any criteria including year or program.
When it comes to social media, The Avro Post is most active on Twitter where followers can tap into notices about cancelled classes and other campus alerts, catch live tweeting for special events and never miss a story, among other things.
The Avro Post does not speak on behalf of the University of Guelph-Humber, Humber College or any club, society or student there.
The Post abides by several principles that stand as the publication’s journalistic guidelines.
TAP was created originally as The Guelph-Humber Post on Oct. 15, 2017, just hours before the college faculty union strike started that fall.
A student named Eli Ridder was disappointed that there was no student publication for the university, and none covering the unique Guelph-Humber angle.
After being denied society status at the university in January, the Post pursued club status.
On Feb. 27, 2018, the Post was approved as an official club of IGNITE Student Life, and branded itself on Mar. 9, 2018.
